On July 31, 2024, Google will cease to provide the call history and chat functionality for Google Business Profiles. Beginning on July 15, 2024, Google will no longer let new chats to be started. On July 31, 2024, the chat and call history functions will be completely disabled.

What Google stated

Google sent numerous types of emails to businesses, depending on whether they use the chat or call history feature. According to the email:
“We are informing you that, as of July 31, 2024, Google will no longer offer its chat and phone history capabilities in Google Business Profile. We understand that this may be unsettling news; as we seek to enhance our products continuously, we occasionally have to make tough choices that could affect the companies and partners we collaborate with. We are dedicated to this objective, and it is crucial to us that Google continues to be a helpful partner as you manage your business.”

Significant dates

The following are the forthcoming dates that you should note:

July 15, 2024: Google Maps and Google Search will no longer allow users to initiate new chat sessions with your company. Searchers who are currently engaged in chat chats will be informed of the upcoming phase-out of chat, though.
On July 31, 2024, Google Business Profile will totally discontinue its chat feature, and you won’t be able to send or receive new messages. Additionally, Google Business Profile will no longer allow you to view your call history.
Download the history. Google Business Profiles allows you to download your call and chat logs so you may save them somewhere. Google will eventually remove the history.
