So many of us are juggling through google’s inappropriate indexing behavior for months, google finally accepted on 13 Dec 2021 that there is something wrong at their end, which they are trying to fix.
They didn’t reveal what caused it but they show affirmation towards fixing it real soon but it’s still uncertain if the issue is fixed or not.
Google has not stated what caused the problem, only that it is an internal problem.
Many in the search community believe Google has slowed web page crawling, and some have responded to Google’s announcement by asking questions about it.
Google tweeted
An internal issue is causing an increase in redirect errors during indexing and associated email notifications. This is not due to any website issues but is due to an internal Google issue. We hope to fix this problem quickly.
Google also sends emails to publishers and site owners about the redirect error taking place and being fixed. This is what the email says-
“Coverage issues detected on a domain.
Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Coverage issue: Top Errors.
Errors can prevent your page or feature from appearing in search results.
The following errors were found on your site:
Redirect error.
We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search.”
Let’s dive in and see what are redirect errors.
What is redirect?
When someone requests a given page but is directed to a different page, this is known as a redirect. The site owner would frequently erase the page and set up a redirect to guide users and search engine crawlers to a more relevant page. Site owners, developers, and SEOs all use redirects on a regular basis in order to get indexed by search engines and to be more relevant for their audience.
Redirection’s major purpose is to guide people to the information they want to see, or to pages with related or updated content. This is a typical technique for websites that have undergone a redesign or that want to streamline their material to improve performance. Redirection has an impact on not just the user experience and traffic to your content, but having a big number of redirected links can also slow down your loading time.
What can we do?
There’s nothing we can do at the moment to solve this error, this is an internal issue caused by google. The only thing you can do is switch to bing.
