Google has officially removed the Page Experience report from Google Search Console, the company announced on LinkedIn earlier today. According to Google, the decision was made to “reduce unnecessary clutter within Search Console and simplify navigating to this information.”
While the Page Experience report is gone, Google emphasized the importance of continuing to prioritize a good page experience for users. They advised site owners to monitor their site’s performance using the Core Web Vitals (CWV) and HTTPS reports, which remain available within Search Console.
Why Was the Report Removed?
Google had signaled this change back in April 2023, so its removal doesn’t come as a surprise. The report had summarized data from CWV and HTTPS, both of which are still accessible individually. Google explained the removal was part of an effort to streamline the tool, but it may also reflect a broader strategy to help SEOs and site owners focus on the most critical aspects of search optimization.
In my opinion, removing this report isn’t solely about reducing clutter—it’s about encouraging users to prioritize metrics that truly matter for search rankings and SEO. After all, Search Console is packed with features, and this could be a step toward simplifying the user experience.
Google’s Official Statement
Here’s what Google shared in their LinkedIn post:
“We’re removing the Page Experience report in Search Console. That page summarized data from the Core Web Vitals and the HTTPS reports, which will continue to be available as they are.
We decided to remove this page to reduce unnecessary clutter within Search Console and simplify navigating to this information. We still encourage you to focus on providing a good page experience to your readers and monitoring the status of your site’s page experience in the CWV and HTTPS reports.
Farewell, Page Experience report 👋”
What Stays and What Changes
The Core Web Vitals and HTTPS reports will remain accessible as standalone features within Search Console, providing critical insights for maintaining a strong page experience.
This change aligns with Google’s updated guidelines, emphasizing that good page experience is an essential component of creating what Google refers to as “helpful content.”
A Brief History
The Page Experience report was introduced in April 2021 and underwent updates as recently as November 2023. Its removal marks a shift in how Google wants site owners to evaluate and optimize their sites.
